Half-day Arts Camps

All Camps run from 12:30pm – 3:30pm. Check individual classes for age requirements.

Bard in the Yard: Instructor: Ms. Joanna Gerdy (Rising 5^th to 7^th grades)
June 7-11

The Bard: William Shakespeare is more than just a bobble head doll sitting on Ms. G's desk! He was an actor, a director and a playwright who lived over 400 years ago and created stories and characters so amazing, actors, directors and filmmakers the world over are still re-creating them today!
The Yard: Yes, we're going to do some Shakespeare in the Park...or, in our case, the YARD (or the playground or the woods...you get the idea!) Join Ms. Gerdy and a company of talented actors like you. Together, we will explore Stage Combat, Elizabethan Dance, Shakespeare's insults and, of course, one or more of Shakespeare's plays. This is a performance camp...We'll rehearse and create the simple scenery and props needed to perform a short, fun, upbeat Shakespeare showcase outside on Friday afternoon for campers, friends and family.

Lego Robotics: Instructor: Mrs. Danielle Cusick (Rising K to 2^nd grades)
June 14 - 18
Robotics Camp! Campers will use Lego Mindstorm kits to design, build and program robots using Lego software. This program will encourage kids to work in small teams to complete a challenge. Campers will use creativity, math, technology and teamwork skills. The last day of camp students will share their robot with the other groups by completing the challenge.

Drape Camp: Instructor: Style Sanctum (Ages 5 & up)
June 21 - 25
Learning to take a design and make it into a pattern requires tons and tons of work. This class looks at this two dimensional way of bringing a garment to life.

Lego Robotics: Instructor: Mrs. Danielle Cusick (Rising 3^rd to 6^th grades)
June 28 – July 2

Drawing & Painting: Instructor: Mr. Michael Thomas (Ages 5 & up)
July 5 - 9
Students will begin by refining their drawing skills and developing dynamic compositions through an understanding of how shapes interact in space. The class will establish a firm foundation in color theory before moving on to various brush techniques such as glazing and impasto. This class will be divided according to age and ability allowing each student to explore their full artistic potential.

Show Choir: Instructor: Ms. Emily Griswold (Rising 2^nd Grade & up)
July 12 - 16
Everything you love about Show Choir wrapped into one week! Performers will sing, dance, act, and have a blast. Throughout the week, students will work on vocal technique, blocking, choreography, and even assist in designing their set leading up to a performance of the show “On the Radio” Friday July 16^th, at 3:30 for friends and family.

Drawing and Sculpture: Instructor: Mr. Michael Thomas (Ages 5 & up)
July 19- 23
Students will begin with observational drawing, working with line and value, (light and dark) to convey a sense of form. Later they will create conceptual sketches that will evolve into three dimensional sculptures. This class will be divided according to age and ability allowing each student to explore their full artistic potential.

The Art of Making Clothes/Fabric Design: Instructor:Style Sanctum (Ages 5 & up)
July 26-30
In this fun (and technical) class, students will actually take the clothing they sketch and learn the ways to turn them into clothing they can wear! We will have fun playing with fabric, and draping the mannequins on our quest to find the way in which movement impacts a design. This class will also focus on how fabric is created and selected by designers for their collections! The class will feature a peek into how fabric is dyed, the fabric printing process and more!
