7TH and 8TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER

Davidson Day School, an Independent School in Davidson, NC, seeks a full-time 5th and 6th grade Language Arts teacher.  As the lead Language Arts instructor, the position involves the following:

  • developing and implementing an experiential Language Arts program that encourages intellectual curiosity while building critical thinking, research, writing, reading and oral expression skills 
  • collaborating with a team of 5th and 6th grade teachers (math, social studies, science, foreign language arts, and music) to develop integrative themes and cross-curricular experiences
  • working as an academic advisor to a group of 10 students, guiding them through their school experience and meeting with them during a weekly advisory time

SUMMER CAMP COUNSELORS

Davidson Day School, an Independent School in Davidson, NC, seeks Counselors for its 2014 Camp DDS summer theme camps.

Counselors are responsible for: 

  • Creating and maintaining a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment that fosters a sense of belonging;
  • Leading creative, entertaining activities;
  • Monitoring campers during sessions with outside vendors, and ensuring safety on and off campus;
  • Supporting campers in making positive behavioural choices and encouraging them to be inclusive of others;
  • Maintaining camper sign-in/sign-out records for students and parents.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A passion for working with Early Childhood- to Middle School-aged students and their parents;
  • Experience working with a group of 10 or more children in an educational or recreational environment;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability and desire to work collaboratively, and a good sense of humor;
  • A desire to work outside during warm summer conditions.

Camp Sessions will run Monday – Friday from June 2nd through August 1st with a one week hiatus from June 30th through July 4th.

Program hours are Monday‒Friday from 7:45 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. including Before Camp (7:45 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.) and After Camp Care (3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.)

ASST. LACROSSE COACHES

Davidson Day is looking for Assistant Lacrosse coaches for both its Middle School and Varsity lacrosse teams.  Coaches must be available Mid February through Mid May.  Practices are after school Monday through Friday.  Need to have lacrosse coaching experience and be able to teach the fundamentals of the game in an independent school atmosphere.   Will be subject to a background check. Davidson Day School, an Independent School in Davidson, NC, seeks Extended Care personnel for our Before- and After-School Care Program.

Extended Care personnel are responsible for: 

  • Creating and maintaining a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment that fosters a sense of belonging;
  • Leading creative, entertaining activities;
  • Supporting students in making positive behavioral choices and taking disciplinary measures when appropriate; and,
  • Maintaining student sign-in/sign-out records for students and parents.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A passion for working with Early Childhood- to Middle School-aged students and their parents;
  • At least six months of experience working with a group of 10 or more students in a classroom, after-school, or recreational environment; and,
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability and desire to work collaboratively, and a good sense of humor.

Program hours are Monday‒Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., through the end of May 2014, consistent with the Davidson Day School calendar.
