At Davidson Day, we’re not just college prep, we’re life prep. This approach is clearly evident in our Upper School, where serious work begins for college, career and a rewarding, meaningful life. Our challenging Upper School curriculum stretches and inspires young minds. We look well beyond merely achieving the highest possible test scores and focus on developing critical thinkers and engaged learners. In physics, students explore wormholes and time dilation. In Spanish and French, they create a Foreign Language Café where they perform skits in their studied languages. In biology, they practice DNA mapping. In history, they engage in spirited debates that put historical events into context in the modern world. Students drive high-level classroom discussions where they’re expected to ask questions, challenge assumptions and think for themselves. This Socratic-style environment is possible because our classes are small and intimate. This means every student is called upon to participate in every class. It also means that our teachers and advisors have the opportunity to know each student on a deeper, more personal level. When guided by caring teachers who respect students, there’s no limit to what young men and women can achieve.
