Technology

At Davidson Day, we teach students to use technology as a productive tool that will serve them well in school and in life. From the earliest possible age, we introduce essential technology into the classroom. We set benchmark performance expectations in technology proficiency at each grade level, and then reach them by including projects, assignments and activities in everything from math and science to history, foreign language, and the arts.

We also use technology to keep parents in the loop, giving them the power to check grades and assignments, email teachers and receive weekly electronic newsletters, all on demand, online.

Lower School Technology

Beginning in 1st grade, classes rely on our Mobile Technology Lab to incorporate web-based learning and application-based activities into their lessons. Students also have scheduled class time with our Technology Instructor to ensure that each child develops the skills to use various software and hardware appropriately to maximize the application of technology as a learning tool in the classroom, and at home.

Middle School Technology

Each student in our 5th and 6th Grade classes have laptop access through our Mobile Technology Lab. Teachers enrich their lessons and promote technology proficiency by weaving web-based and application-based activities into their classes. 7th and 8th graders are proud to be part of our Laptop program, and they use their own school laptops to conduct research and complete their assignments.

Upper School Technology

Technology implementation is in full force in Upper School, where every student has his or her own laptop and our teachers integrate technology into their daily lesson plans. Our laptop program “knocks down the classroom walls” and puts a world of information at our students’ fingertips. The benefits stretch far beyond research and software use. The program teaches responsibility as the students learn to take care of their laptops while preparing them for the academic rigors and technological demands of college.
